How Do You Build Connection in Your Business?

One of the biggest benefits I see small business owners miss, is in designing their business in a way that allows them to bring their best selves. For instance you get to design how you want to connect with your team, your customers, your community and the world.

What kind of connections do you want? With whom? How often? Where? When?

As an introvert leaning towards ambivert I enjoy both small scale deep conversations and large groups as either a speaker or an audience member. I enjoy the shared experience. I hate group conversations because they drain my energy. I have a hard time tracking all of what is happening and I don’t get the satisfaction of the depth of a great juicy discussion.

But I need time to recover and recharge after. So I build that into my schedule. One of my favourite indulgences is to schedule an extra day after every conference to walk around the city. I get to explore with no agenda and no stress. I think through everything I learned and figure out how to apply it in my life and business. I do this at a large scale if I’m traveling or small scale by walking home after a Meetup.

How do you like to connect with people? How have you brought that into your business or how can you bring that into your business?
