Pride in a Job Well Done

Pride is how you feel about your work versus how others feel.

We take pride in a job well done. When we do our work well, we have a feeling of satisfaction, of being in control, of being contributing members of our community. We feel good.

It’s not enough to do a good job with an easy task. We don’t feel pride in reading our email, but we do feel pride in crafting an email response that conveys a tricky message well.

Pride may go before a fall, but feeling pride is not a bad thing. It’s a signal that we are doing our work to the best of our ability. It’s a way for us to know we are on the right path to doing work that makes us happy.

When do you feel pride in your work? How can you focus your time to do the kind of work that makes you proud?
