Community

Chris Guillebeau just posted a great article about Community.

I just forwarded it to my mastermind group because we are building an online community for off-line business. I think that small business is the backbone of most economies and I think that many of the world’s problems would be solved through strong small businesses all over the world. A business owner who has reached a level of success looks into the wider community and solves issues around infrstructure, resource availablity and happy, healthy citizenry who will be employees and customers. Our hope is to help small business owners reach that stage.

This group will be a support, guidance, accountability partner and resource for small business owners everywhere. Small business is a tribe that is a million years old and has a billion members. All the problems have been encountered and solved many times over. We are all experts in some aspect of business. We want to share those stories.

We are set up on the ning.com platform – a great tool for communities to interact.

It is by invitation only and will be open to Beta trials by the end of June. I will post the link when it is ready. The domain we bought is OurBusinessHappenings.com We plan to launch on 30 September, 2009

UPDATE: It’s 6 years later and I’m still working on this idea. I don’t know if that means I’m very stuck or I’m not committed, or I’m iterating and making progress.
